With Spring comes many proud parents and students about to attend commencement ceremonies. This time of year always has me glowing and being so appreciative of my decision to attend my Alma Mater (’02,’03), Quinnipiac University (QU). To this day I proclaim the decision to attend college at QU as the single best most rewarding decision to impact my life. I wouldn’t change it for anything (more on how and why later)!
What makes me even more proud is having a sister graduate from QU! That’s right my little sister, Kim (’05), and I attend Quinnipiac University and were fortunate to be enrolled for a couple years together! Seems like yesterday. (photo by QU of the Quad)
So when my sister was to graduate I wanted to make her day extra special and show case her growth and journey over the years! She was my little sister who I saw grow over the years into an amazing adult! We had many great memories and some of those took place while attending QU together! Although I wanted to run up on stage and give a public speech in front of the class of 2005 honoring her; I opted for a less “in your face” approach!
Here is my sister walking down the path to take her seat and seconds before she realizes what is going on!! She says she couldn’t believe what she was looking at!
So, as she was about to take her seat she was greeted by 10 of us holding up a photo of her when she was little! Remember, this was my idea of a little less “in your face.” I crack my self up sometimes!
Here is a closer look of us! I was so excited for her and for our family to see her graduate! I wanted everyone to know, but most importantly I wanted her, even for a split second, to realize how far she had come! Mission accomplished, she says it made her laugh and realize “wow, that was me then, and this is me now.”
I made the photo fans by enlarging my selected photo to about 8×10 and taking blue dowels I already had laying around (most craft and home improvement stores carry them). Took all of 30 seconds on each. Cut around the photo and glued the dowel on.
I spent the rest of the ceremony running around taking photos! Thanks for visiting and Congratulations to the class of 2014!
